“God created man in His own image.” I see the face of God in the beauty of man. My ideology is to show the beauty of man, which God created - so different and unique. I don’t choose professional models for my ideas, usually, I choose models right on the street or at events I attend.

That’s what happened with this episode, which starred Roman Fedotov. I saw this guy at a dance festival. Those days, I was looking for a new “favorite” for my ideas, looking for something fresh. So, Roman was dancing on stage and I find he spread life around. It was unforgettable and wonderful. I made five my friends with me to keep an eye on him to not lose him and then searched him in backstage for 2 hours.

Roman Fedotov is an experienced dancer who has created about a couple dozen projects. Now he leads two dance teams: an adult group and a group of teenagers, each with 11-13 people. Roman is a dance coach in groups and individually. His teams took prizes at the largest festivals in the country, get into the BEST TOP of the seasons. He has also been a member of the jury at several competitions.

This photo-series I needed a young one filled with life. I wanted naivety of youth, but at the same time with manhood. Actually, I thought it was impossible in the form that I needed. But meeting Roman, everything fell into place. He has that very middle ground between unspoiled youth and the completed personality of an adult, somehow childishly coloring the space choosing colors in an adult way.

In life, Roman tries to look restrained, he does not like to attract attention to himself. However, he trusts my original ideas.

Roman shared how he felt when put on this costume for the first time: “I felt handsome,” - Roman recalls. - “I especially liked the way white looks on me, I thought about dressing like this more often.”

Roman is a rather unusual person - a socially active introvert, which makes him humble. So on set, I tell by myself the model how to get posing. This project had special effects in advance, so I shot on a white cyclorama and just told Roman how to interact with space. And then in the postproduction, I added an environment.

“I usually have difficulties with how to behave in the frame,” - says Roman. - “But on Luiza set, it’s always very trusting and calm, I don’t worry about the result at all and I feel supported.”

I like the way he said - “I feel supported.” This is a very important moment for me in my work with Roman. I want to make him feel that way, because he’s a some distrustful person. Being the flow of people in his social activity, he gives himself to people. I wanted to go against this flow and give him something in return.

I wish to influence people’s hearts for the better. I want people to know about their beauty. Asking Roman if working with me had influenced him, he answered directly to my goal: “Yes, it did, and very strongly. I became more self-confident, and I often began to think I look very handsome. I’ve learned to feel more organic in the frame.”

After this project, we planned several joint collaborations with Roman. Each of the projects is completely different from the previous one.

Although Roman is so much younger than me that he is enough to be my child, but he is able to teach an older person. It’s a gift from God.
